Benefits:

Oracal 651 vinyl is known for its durability, vibrant color selection, and clean professional finish, making it a popular choice for vehicle graphics, windows, laptops, tumblers, and more. Unlike printed stickers, transfer decals have no background, giving the design a sleek, painted-on look that blends seamlessly with your surface. With strong adhesive performance and weather-resistant construction, these decals are built to handle sun, rain, and everyday use while maintaining their bold appearance over time.
Installation Instructions:

Required Tools:

Retractable razor blade, squeegee, tape measure or ruler, and a spray bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol.

Optional:

For easier positioning during installation, lightly mist both the application surface and adhesive side of the decal with water. This reduces the initial tack, allowing more flexibility during placement, but will increase drying time. Allow at least 10 minutes of drying time before checking adhesion and removing the transfer tape.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces should be considered dirty and must be thoroughly cleaned before installation. Painted metal surfaces should be cleaned using an automotive detergent. Wipe the surface dry using a clean, lint-free cloth to ensure proper adhesion.

Step 1: Tape in Place

Position the decal and align it using a nearby horizontal line or reference point. Use a level if necessary to ensure the decal is straight and even. Once aligned, place masking tape on the corners to temporarily hold it in place. Apply a strip of masking tape across the top edge of the decal to create a hinge for easier application.

Step 2: Remove the Backing Paper

Carefully hinge the decal upward using the masking tape hinge. Slowly peel the backing paper away from one corner, working gradually across the decal until the backing is fully removed. Hold the decal taut and avoid allowing the adhesive side to touch the surface prematurely.

Step 3: Apply the Decal

Using a squeegee, begin at the center of the decal and work outward using firm, smooth strokes. Apply even pressure to push air outward and ensure proper adhesion to the surface. Continue working across the entire decal until all sections are securely applied. Go over the decal once more with the squeegee to ensure full contact.

Step 4: Remove Transfer Tape and Trim if Necessary

Slowly remove the transfer tape by pulling it back flat against the surface. Watch carefully to ensure the vinyl remains properly adhered during removal. If needed, use a retractable razor blade to carefully trim around door seams or edges and tuck excess vinyl inward for a clean finish.

Application Tip:

If small air bubbles appear, use the tip of an X-Acto knife or pin to gently release the trapped air. Smooth the vinyl down carefully using your finger or squeegee.

Decal FAQs

What surfaces work best?

Decals bond best to clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces like glass, smooth painted metal, and finished plastic. Rough, textured, or porous surfaces do not give the adhesive enough contact to hold well, so they are not a good fit.

How long will my decal last outdoors?

It is cut from Oracal 651 outdoor vinyl, rated for up to 6 years outdoors with proper installation. Real-world life depends on sun, climate, and wear, but it is built to handle daily weather and regular car washes.

Can I wash my vehicle after applying a decal?

Yes. Give it about 48 to 72 hours after installation so the adhesive fully cures, then hand washing or a standard automatic car wash is fine. Just avoid aiming a pressure washer straight at the edges.

Will a decal damage my paint, and can I remove it later?

No. It applies over factory paint and clear coat and removes cleanly without harming the finish. To take it off, warm it gently with a hair dryer and peel slowly from one edge. Any leftover adhesive wipes off with mild soapy water.

Can I reuse a decal once it is removed?

No. Transfer decals are made for a single application. Peeling one off stretches the vinyl and spends the adhesive, so it is worth planning your placement before you apply.

Can I change my order after it is placed?

Please double-check your selections before checkout. Decals are made to order, so once production starts we often cannot make changes. If you catch something right away, email us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help.

Love the Decal

I love this Jeep beach scene decal on the dash of my JLU Rubicon! I actually bought it twice because I didn’t follow the instructions properly the first time and accidentally placed it a couple inches lower than where I wanted it. My OCD side couldn’t live with it like that so I bought it again after a couple weeks, peeled off the first one and got the placement just right the second time. It looks great - I absolutely love it!! I can also attest to the fact that it’s VERY adhesive because it was really difficult to peel off, so I don’t expect it to come off on its own any time soon.

I love this

I love this. It’s a little longer than I was hoping but it transferred fine onto the dash. I did unfortunately rip one of the birds while pulling it off the paper but it isn’t too noticeable. Be careful pulling yours off.

Looks great on my Islander Jeep

Looks great on my Islander Jeep, but was just a little bigger than I thought. Was able to apply by myself but two people would have been better to make it perfect. Recommend this, great way to make that blank space on the passenger side come alive??
